Company History

November 1969 The current CEO Hiroshi Abe founded Asahi Seiko Co,. Ltd. on 3-7-3 Ryusen, Taito-ku, Tokyo, and started business.

September 1974

Established technological alliance with Karl W. Muller in West Germany for coin selectors, and started manufacturing.

September 1975

Established technological alliance with Coin Controllers International in Great Britain for coin selectors, and started manufacturing.

August 1977

Separated the manufacturing department and reestablished it as Asahi Coin Mech Co., Ltd. in Kawaguchi, Saitama to increase production.

August 1981

Relocated the head office to 2-24-15 Minami-Aoyama Minato-ku, Tokyo to strengthen the sales organization.

November 1984

Set up Iwatsuki Factory in Iwatsuki, Saitama, and absorbed Asahi Coin Mech to strengthen the product development system.

March 1989

Founded Asahi Seiko USA Inc. (Asahi Seiko USA branch) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

April 1992

CEO Hiroshi Abe received the Director-General of the Science and Technology Agency Prize.

August 1994

Established Asahi Seiko (EUROPE) LTD (Asahi Seiko European branch) in Kent, Britain (*closed in August 2022).

July 1996

Separated Asahi Seiko USA Inc. from the branch and reestablished as an American subsidiary.

November 1998

Established Kitsuregawa Factory in Kitsuregawa, Tochigi.

April 2001

Iwatsuki Factory acquires ISO9001.

April 2003

CEO Hiroshi Abe received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon from the Emperor.

December 2004

Completed the new sales management system at the Head Office Sales and Accounting departments. The intersystem coordination with the production management system established the comprehensive operation solution.

March 2005

Established the second factory in Iwatsuki.

April 2005

The factory address was changed due to municipal merger. Iwatsuki Factory was changed to Saitama Factory, and Kitsuregawa Factory to Tochigi Factory.

November 2006

Established 4th wing in Tochigi Factory.

March 2007

The Sales Department at the Head Office acquires ISO9001.

October 2010

Received the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office Award for utilizing the patent system for newly developed technologies.

November 2012

CEO Hiroshi Abe received the Order of the Rising Sun from the Emperor.

September 2014

For the first time, our Coin Recycler passed the counterfeit Euro coin detection test stipulated by EU regulations.

July 2018

Our Coin Recycler passed the Golden Standard (Technical specification for RMB cash machine identification ability) test by Authentication Testing Center of Security Printing Institute of People’s Bank of China.

March 2019

All locations and departments in Japan acquire ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.

November 2019

Celebrated the 50th anniversary.
